Apple’s Latest Innovation: M4 MacBook Air and Mac Studio Models
Apple is on the brink of unveiling its much-anticipated updated MacBook Air equipped with the cutting-edge M4 chip in early 2025, as reported by industry sources. Additionally, the tech giant is also in the works of developing a new Mac Studio model housing the M4 chip, although its release has been slightly delayed. Meanwhile, Apple is gearing up for the launch of new M4-powered Mac models next week, including the highly-anticipated new iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, making it the final hardware launch for the company this year.
Excitement Builds as Apple Prepares to Launch M4 MacBook Air Model
Reports from Bloomberg suggest that Apple is preparing to commence production of the new M4 MacBook Air models, set to hit the market in early 2025. These releases will coincide with new iPhone SE, iPad, and iPad Air models. The current generation MacBook Air, powered by the M3 chip, made its debut in March, and consumers can expect a refreshed model with a more robust processor around the same timeframe next year.
The upcoming MacBook Air models are anticipated to come in two display sizes: 13-inch (codenamed J713) and 15-inch (J715), retaining the design of the current generation models. These variants are projected to be introduced following a software update expected in December.
Conversely, the launch of an upgraded Mac Studio model equipped with an M4 chip (codenamed J575) is not expected in the first quarter, as per Bloomberg reports. The release is reportedly postponed to between March and June. No official announcement has been made regarding when Apple plans to refresh the Mac Pro with an M4 chip, reiterating a claim from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman earlier this year.
Apple Anticipated to Refresh Mac Models with M4 Chip
Recent insights from Gurman indicate that Apple will introduce a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip (codenamed J604) and high-end 14-inch (J614) and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 chips (J616). Moreover, a Mac mini featuring either M4 or M4 Pro chips (J773) alongside a revamped iMac with an M4 chip (J623) may also be on the horizon.
While Apple recently launched a refreshed iPad Mini powered by an A17 Pro chip — the same processor used in the iPhone 15 Pro — on October 15, the tech giant is yet to unveil the new Mac models mentioned earlier. Previous reports hint that the upcoming M4 Mac Mini will sport a significantly smaller body reminiscent of the Apple TV box. The launch strategy for these products remains unclear, whether Apple will host a launch event or simply announce their availability on its website, following the trend set by the new iPad Mini (2024).
