Startup Humane Inc. has issued a warning to users of its Ai Pin device, urging them to cease using the charging case over safety concerns regarding a potential fire risk. This latest development has added further uncertainty to the already tumultuous launch of the product.

Addressing the Quality Concern
In response to the identified quality issue, Humane released a statement elucidating the situation. The company stated, “Our investigation revealed that the battery supplier failed to meet our stringent quality standards, raising the potential for specific battery cells supplied by this vendor to present a fire safety hazard.” Consequently, the company swiftly terminated its association with the battery supplier and initiated efforts to secure a new partner to uphold its commitment to quality.
While advising users to refrain from using the charging case, Humane reassured them that the Ai Pin can still be charged using the included home charging dock. However, the company did not specify whether it intends to replace charging cases for existing Ai Pin owners or provide a timeline for identifying a new supplier. As a gesture of goodwill, Humane is granting affected Ai Pin owners two complimentary months of the mandatory monthly subscription.
