Universal Pictures Announces ‘Shinobi’ Movie Adaptation Directed by Sam Hargrave

Universal Pictures has unveiled plans to bring SEGA’s iconic video game franchise, Shinobi, to the silver screen, with Sam Hargrave at the helm. ‘Shinobi’ Film Production Team and Success in Video Game Adaptations

Ken Kobayashi is tasked with adapting the screenplay for the Shinobi movie, with production spearheaded by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel of Marc Platt Productions, along with Dmitri M. Johnson representing Story Kitchen and Toru Nakahara for SEGA. This project marks Universal Pictures’ continued success in video game adaptations, following the box office triumphs of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s, which garnered $1.4 billion and $290 million globally, respectively.

The Global Phenomenon of ‘Shinobi’ Game Series

Shinobi, a game franchise that has sold over 5 million copies worldwide across 14 installments, is the latest SEGA title to make the transition from gaming consoles to the big screen.
