19th Divya Kala Mela Showcases Differently-Abled Entrepreneurs

The city of Visakhapatnam is currently hosting the 19th Divya Kala Mela, an inspiring initiative by the Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Empowering Entrepreneurs with Disabilities

One of the participants, Naveen Kumar Gautam, has caught the attention of many with his eco-friendly stationery products. His stall showcases a variety of sustainable paper products, demonstrating how social responsibility and entrepreneurship can work hand in hand. Another standout is Surinder Kumar from Haryana, who is hearing impaired. Surinder brings the traditional art of camel leather craftsmanship to Visakhapatnam with his elegant collection of footwear, a nod to Haryana’s cultural heritage.

Diversity and Ingenuity on Display

Adding to the diversity of the mela is a stall run by a differently-abled couple from West Bengal, Nandini Chakraborty and her husband. They present a unique collection of handmade curtain holders, jewelry, and fitted bedsheets in various sizes. Despite communication barriers, Nandini effectively showcases their products through sign language and clear pricing labels, creating a welcoming and accessible shopping experience for all visitors.
