Sony Unveils Post-Launch Plans for Online Game Concord
Sony has recently announced the post-launch roadmap for its highly anticipated online hero shooter, Concord. The game, which recently underwent an open beta test, is gearing up for its release on the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms later this month. Developer Firewalk Studios has confirmed that Concord will be priced at $40 (Rs. 2,499 in India) and notably, it will not feature a Battlepass system.
The first major content update for Concord is scheduled to arrive in October, as revealed by Firewalk Studios. This update will introduce a new playable character called Freegunner, a fresh map, various cosmetics, and more exciting additions to the game.
Game Director Outlines Future Plans for Concord
Ryan Ellis, the game director at Firewalk, detailed the studio’s commitment to supporting Concord post-launch. He assured players of seasonal updates, new gameplay modes, unique rewards, additional characters, maps, modes, and engaging narratives for an enhanced gaming experience.
Concord’s upcoming Season 1: The Tempest, set to debut in October, will bring a plethora of new features, including a new Freegunner, map, Freegunner Variants, cosmetics, rewards, and more. The season will also introduce an in-game store for purchasing customization items for Freegunners. These optional items are strictly cosmetic and will not affect gameplay.
Moreover, Firewalk has confirmed plans for Season 2, which is slated for release in January 2025, with continued seasonal updates throughout the game’s first year. A roadmap image hints at the arrival of Season 3 in April 2025, keeping players eagerly anticipating the game’s evolution.
Firewalk also detailed Concord’s Crew Builder system, enabling players to curate their Custom Crew of Freegunners for online matches. Each Custom Crew offers 12 configurable slots, allowing players to choose from a growing roster of Freegunners and their Variants, each with unique modifiers to base abilities. Players can unlock additional Variants by completing in-game challenges, adding depth and strategy to team composition.
The Crew Builder system functions akin to deckbuilding, allowing players to strategically select characters, focus on specific abilities, and diversify their team composition for tactical advantage. Each Custom Crew includes four Back Up slots, randomly populated with Freegunners not present in the player’s primary composition, adding an element of surprise to gameplay.
Pre-Launch Details and Release Dates
In a blog post, Firewalk also provided specific release timings for Concord across different regions. The game will launch in early access on August 20 for players who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition. The official release for all PC and PS5 players is scheduled for August 23, with PS5 users able to pre-load the game on their consoles ahead of the launch date.
As excitement builds for Concord’s imminent release, players can look forward to a dynamic gaming experience filled with regular updates, new content, and a vibrant community eager to engage with the evolving world of Concord.
